RALEIGH, NC: On Wednesday, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! closed school three hours early due to the high chance of inclement weather affecting the surrounding area. Noted Raleigh area resident, and avid automotive enthusiast, Jack Does Cars was unaffected by the closure, due to a stomach related sickness.

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! shows that tornadoes, hail, fallen trees/power lines, intense wind, heavy rain, and a possible apocalypse are all affiliated with the storm, which has decided to make Raleigh it’s home for some reason.

Mr. Cars was quoted saying, “Wow, on the ONE DAY, they cancel school early I’m not there to see it. C’mon guys. C’mon.” Obviously upset with the actions taken by the Wake County Public School system (WCPSS), Cars backed up his prior statement with, “I’m gonna find this storm. And I’m gonna take ‘er down.”

The storm, which the writer shall call, “Randy,” caused heavy damage to Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida, yesterday when it came through like CSX 8888. Tornadoes sprung up in the Gulf States, injuring many people and killing some. Nonetheless, the people of Raleigh, especially Jack Does Cars, are on high alert to make sure that trees do not fall on their precious vehicles. Such as a green, 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer with 164,000 miles, all for the low price of $3,500.

Just got home from said school closure. And there are very few weather-related events that frighten me more than a tornado.

Wow, you guys close school for Tornados? Our school system laughed and spit in the storm’s face. I even had to go to track practice an hour before the storm came.

Alas, it only rained, but now all of the rivers and creeks are flooded.

We closed school last Monday over the POTENTIAL of snow. There was none.

News says that trees are down and about 10,000 are out of power.

That’s not too bad then. I checked every so often and every time there were several tornado warnings going at one time, so i figured it would have been a lot worse.

We used to be like that. Back on January 28, 2014 we got a surprise 5 inches of snow, and the whole city shut down, and it was really bad.

Then the next week we got 7 inches of snow. School closed for 4 days before that because the weatherman didn’t know when it would snow.

Last year they would be like your school district. Now they just don’t care anymore: Tornados at 3:00? School. Roads ice overnight? School. Bridge over the Cahaba River closes, leaving half of the district stranded? School.

See, that’s just stupid and really unsafe. Shame on Alabama.

There were tornadoes northeast of here, closer to the Virginia border, but nothing in apocalyptic Central NC.

Their ignorance to the weather will bite them in the (buttock region) sometime. I just hope it’s snow again. It’s been 5 years since a major tornado. I don’t want this April to break that record. It’s also JUST my school district. Other local ones let out early on said snow, tornado, and bridge closure days.

I’m not sure how things are in Alabama, but school districts are decided by county. So if there’s a bridge closure or a dusting of snow in, say, Wake Forest it will affect Fuquay-Varina. That’s 45 minutes away. But that means I get a day off of school, so I don’t care.

We operate similar to Orange County, NC. It’s like how Chapel Hill/Carrboro has its own school system independent to the rest of Orange County. Are all of Wake’s schools under the same system?

In the county I live in there are 6 school districts due to the fact that the suburbs are independent to the city of Birmingham. Most suburbs barely exceed 20K in population, yet each one has its own city council, mayor, police, etc. All of this means that if there’s a massive snowstorm moving in from the east, the eastern districts will get out an hour before we do.

This is unique to Birmingham/Jefferson Co. No other area in AL does it like this.

Wake County is all one. I think Orange’s makes more sense, because that’s how the rest of the country does it. My sister grew up near Seattle, and she told me that *most* high schools were autonomous from the rest of the district.
